Final UK gambling licence terms and clarity on point of consumption tax set the playfield of gaming law obligations to enable operators to act in a more clear scenario.Following two consultations conducted towards the end of 2013, the Gambling Commission has published the final Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice.
These three consultations resulted in the publication of the updated license conditions and codes of practice in three parts and these are now consolidated into one document. ย All such changes will come into force at the beginning of August 2014 (save for one condition regarding the use of gambling software by operators, which is delayed until January 2015). Additionally, the Gambling Commission published further FAQs availableย hereย to help operators to comply with their obligations.
Finally, the Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act implementing the point of consumption tax received Royal Assent ending weeks of speculation in the industry as to when the amendments to the British Gambling Act 2005 would finally go through the final stage of our legislative process.
