As anticipated the Italian Gambling Authority, AAMS,ย and the French Gambling Authority, ARJEL, have been negotiating a bilateral agreement that should enhance the cooperation between the two regulators. According to a press release issued by AAMS, the bilateral agreement has been now signed.
This represents the first agreement between gambling regulators of two different jurisdictions and, according toย the press release, the purpose of the agreement is to foster the cooperation against illegal websites, encourage the compliance with ethical principles in sports competitions and monitor and support operators acting legally and protect players.
In particular, it will be very important the cooperation againstย illegal websites that offer games to Italian/French players without holding an Italian/French gambling licence. Indeed, the illegal marketย might be among the reasons of the current reduction in the turnover of the Italian market and operators now applying for an Italian licenceย are certainly willing to protect their investments against operator that will continue acting illegally.
