As anticipated in the previous posts the draft decrees regulating:
in Italy have been subject to the review of the European Commission for a 3 months period. The good news is that the so called “stand still” period has now expired and, according to the publicly available information, no comments have been raised by the EC and the EU Member States.
This means that the final decrees are likely to be approved in the next weeks which is expected to lead to the launch of casino and poker cash games by the end of the year and the award of new remote gaming licenses by the beginning of 2011.
A completely new market is about to open up in Italy and new entrants should get ready to apply for an Italian license to be able to start offering their games to Italian players before the market positions are consolidated.
