The Italian Intellectual Property & Technology law department (my department!) of DLA Piper published their Legal Predictions for 2019.
These take a look back at what happened during 2018 and illustrate the key changes that are expected in 2019.
Indeed, as you have seen through some of the blog posts published during the previous weeks on this blog, the publication covers 14 different topics, from more traditional areas of law such as trademarks, copyright, trade secrets and patents to innovative topics such as artificial intelligence and Intenet of Things, blockchain, FinTech and eSports, from life sciences to media, fashion, e-cigarettes and gambling, to privacy and cyber security, which were among the main challenges of 2018 and will continue to be so in 2019.
The amount of topics covered puts on show the extensive skills of DLA Piperโs Italian Intellectual Property & Technology law department, which concluded 2018 with a record turnover and was considerably strengthened with the promotion to Partner of Alessandro Ferrari, an outsourcing and media expert, and the entry ofย Marco de Morpurgo, who has extensive expertise in the life sciences sector, as a partner in Rome.
Along with head of the department,ย Gualtiero Dragotti, andย Roberto Valenti, specialized in intellectual property andย Giulio Coraggio, an expert in technology and privacy, the total number of partners in the group is now 5. Other new team members that joined the group have increased the overall headcount to 25.
