The new EU product liability directive, published in the Official Journal on 18 November 2024, is expected to have a significant impact on companies involved in the production and commercialization of artificial intelligence (AI) systems.
Just a few days after the provisional agreement on the EU AI Act, policymakers reached a landmark agreement updating the Product Liability Directive which now also covers liability deriving from artificial intelligence.
